North Berwick
North Berwick is a charming seaside town with safe sandy beaches and dramatic rock pools. The Scottish Seabird Centre, tennis courts, sports centre with swimming pool, shops and restaurants, and a choice of three golf courses are all nearby. The championship course of Muirfield is only 10 minutes away. All around are wonderful walks, and Edinburgh is half an hour or so away by car, train or bus.

Things to do and see in the area
Golf courses - choose from Muirfield, Gullane (three courses) and North Berwick (two courses), well recognised by golfers for over 100 years, all within walking distance or at most a 15 minute drive.

Museums and Galleries

Fishing & Sea Trips - Charter a boat to go fishing or sail around the islands of Fidra, The Lamb, Craigleith and May. Sail round Bass Rock with its towering cliffs and world-famous Gannet colony, Puffins and Seals.

Swimming - in the sea, in the local sports centre or (for children) in the sea water pool on the beach.

Sailing, Windsurfing and Diving

Visit:
- Edinburgh with its many historic attractions (35 minutes by car, train). Buses available.
- The ruins of Tantallon and Dirleton Castles.
- The Scottish Seabird Centre.
- Dunbar - The John Muir House, birthplace of John Muir, founding figure of the worldwide Conservation Movement, and The John Muir Park.

Hiking - Climb North Berwick Law, a conical volcanic hill (613 feet) with bird's eye views stretching for miles around. Beatiful sandy beaches, bays and rocky coves with rock pools and walks along the coast. Also Hill Walking in the Lammermuir hills.

Restaurants and Pubs - There is a large variety including Scottish, Italian, Indian, Chinese, Turkish and, of course, Fish and Chips. Take away facilities, with a delivery service, is also available.

Shops - Excellent local shops within 3 minutes walk. Collect your fresh morning rolls from the local baker whose shop is accessible from the beach.
